How to Set Up a Windows 10 Organization Activation Server

If you are an IT administrator or a business owner who wants to activate multiple Windows 10 devices in your organization, you might want to consider setting up a Windows 10 Organization Activation Server. This is a server that can activate Windows 10 devices using your organization’s network connection, without requiring individual product keys or internet access for each device.
In this article, we will show you how to set up a Windows 10 Organization Activation Server in a few simple steps.
Step 1: Install the Volume Activation Services Role on a Server
The first step is to install the Volume Activation Services role on a server that will act as your Windows 10 Organization Activation Server. You can use any server that runs Windows Server 2012 R2 or later, as long as it has internet access and can communicate with your Windows 10 devices.
To install the Volume Activation Services role, follow these steps:
- Open Server Manager and click on Manage > Add Roles and Features.
- On the Before You Begin page, click Next.
- On the Select Installation Type page, choose Role-based or feature-based installation and click Next.
- On the Select Destination Server page, select the server where you want to install the role and click Next.
- On the Select Server Roles page, check the box next to Volume Activation Services and click Next.
- On the Select Features page, click Next.
- On the Confirm Installation Selections page, click Install.
- Wait for the installation to complete and then click Close.
Step 2: Configure the Volume Activation Services Role

The next step is to configure the Volume Activation Services role on your server. You will need to specify the type of activation method you want to use and provide a valid product key for your Windows 10 devices.
To configure the Volume Activation Services role, follow these steps:
- Open Server Manager and click on Tools > Volume Activation Tools.
- On the Volume Activation Method page, choose Active Directory-Based Activation and click Next.
- On the Product Key Management page, enter your product key for Windows 10 devices and click Next. You can use either a Multiple Activation Key (MAK) or a Key Management Service (KMS) key. If you don’t have a product key, you can request one from Microsoft Volume Licensing Service Center.
- On the Confirmation page, review your settings and click Apply.
- Wait for the configuration to complete and then click Close.
Step 3: Activate Your Windows 10 Devices

The final step is to activate your Windows 10 devices using your Windows 10 Organization Activation Server. You don’t need to do anything on the devices themselves, as they will automatically activate when they join your organization’s domain or when they connect to your organization’s network.
To verify that your Windows 10 devices are activated, follow these steps:
- On a Windows 10 device, open Settings > Update & Security > Activation.
- Check the activation status under Windows. It should say “Windows is activated with a digital license linked to your Microsoft account” or “Windows is activated with a digital license”.
- If you see an error message or a “Connect to the internet to activate Windows” message, try troubleshooting the activation issue by clicking on Troubleshoot or Activate.
Congratulations! You have successfully set up a Windows 10 Organization Activation Server and activated your Windows 10 devices. You can now enjoy the benefits of having a centralized and secure activation system for your organization.
