Natacha Atlas – Kidda: A Song of Love and Torment

Natacha Atlas - Kidda: A Song of Love and Torment

Natacha Atlas is a Belgian singer of Egyptian and Moroccan descent who is known for her fusion of Arabic, Western and world music. She has released several albums, including Halim, which features the song Kidda.

Kidda is a song that expresses the pain and frustration of a woman who loves a man who is cruel and indifferent to her. The lyrics are in Arabic, with some words in French and English. The title means “like that” or “why” in Egyptian dialect.

The song has a catchy melody and a rhythmic beat that contrasts with the sad and passionate lyrics. The song also showcases Atlas’s vocal range and ability to blend different musical styles. The song was featured in the video game Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories, on the Radio Del Mundo station.

Here are some of the lyrics and their translation:

Lish, habibi lish
Habibi lish kidda wana
Bahebak…
…Ya rohi ana…
Habibi lish kidda wana
Bahebak..

Why, my love why
My love why are you like that when I love you so?
I love you…
…You are my soul…
My love why are you like that when I love you?
I love you..
