Qod Kafani is a selawat (a form of salutation upon the prophet Muhammad) that is originally performed by Habib Syech bin Abdul Qodir Assegaf, a prominent Indonesian Islamic singer and preacher. The selawat is also sung by his grandson, Muhammad Hadi Assegaf. The title Qod Kafani means “My Lord’s knowledge suffices me” in Arabic.

The selawat expresses the singer’s devotion and reliance on Allah, who knows his condition and needs better than anyone else. The singer also praises Allah as the most responsive, the most near, the most knowing and the most hearing. The selawat also conveys the singer’s humility and poverty before Allah, who is his protector and companion in all situations.

The selawat has a melodious and soothing tune that can calm the heart and soul. It is often sung in religious gatherings and events, especially during the month of Ramadan. The selawat is also popular among Muslims around the world who appreciate its beautiful meaning and message.

Here are the lyrics of Qod Kafani by Habib Syech bin Abdul Qodir Assegaf:

Qod kafani ‘ilmu robbi min su-ali wakhtiyari
Fadu’a-i wabtihali syahidun li biftiqori
Falihadzas-sirri ad’u fi yasari wa ‘asari
Ana ‘abdun shoro fakhri dlimna faqri wadlthirori

Ya sari’al ghoutsan minka yudrikni sari’an
Yahzimul ‘usro wa ya’ti billadzi arju jami’an
Ya qoriban ya mujiban ya ‘aliman ya sami’an
Qod kafani ‘ilmu robbi min su-ali wakhtiyari

Lam azal bilbaabi waaqiffarhaman robbi wuquufi
Biwaadil fadhli ‘aakif walihusnidzonni laazim
Wahuwa khilli wahaliifi Wa insii wa jalisii
Thuula lailii wa nahaa Qod kafani ‘ilmu robbi min su-ali wakhtiyariri

Haajatan finnafsii yaa robbi faqdhihaa yaa khoiroo qoodii
Wa arrih sirri wa qolbii min ladhooha wassyawaadi
Fi suruurin wa hubuurin waidza maa kunta roodii
Falhanaa walbasthu haalii Wasyi’aarii waditsaarii

And here is the translation of the lyrics in English:

My Lord's knowledge suffices me from asking or choosing
My supplication and my hope are witnesses to my sincerity
So with this secret I call upon Him in ease and hardship
I am a slave whose pride is in his poverty and neediness
My Lord's knowledge suffices me from asking or choosing

O my God and my King You know how I am
And what has filled my heart with worries and troubles
So leave me not without Your kindness O Master of the masters
My Lord's knowledge suffices me from asking or choosing

O You who are swift in sending relief from You let it reach me quickly
You who overcome difficulties and bring what I hope for all of it
O You who are near O You who answer O You who know O You who hear
My Lord's knowledge suffices me from asking or choosing

I never cease to stand at Your door seeking Your mercy and grace
I abide by good thoughts of You always
And You are my shelter and my
